On 26th February, the Namibia Northern Highway Upgrading Project undertaken by CGGC was handed over and put into operation. Hage Geingob, President of Namibia, cut the ribbon on the open-to-traffic ceremony of the Highway.

The Contract of the Namibia Northern Highway Upgrading Project was signed on 14th March, 2012 and officially put into effect on 8th April, 2013. According to the Contract, CGGC was assigned to upgrade the original D3608 Highway into a bituminous concrete highway in the length of 98.25km in total. The east-west highway is located in the north of Namibia across Aomushadi and Ohangwena, about 20km far from the border of Angola against Namibia.

On 15th May, 2013, Pohamba, current President of Namibia, attended the opening ceremony. There were 67 local people recruited for the project whose general contract amount USD 80 million was 100% provided by the Export-Import Bank of China on concessional loan for the whole construction period of 36 months.
