CEEC signs EPC contract on Attrat Fuel Oil Shale Power Station in Jordan

On October 31, 2014, the EPC contract signing ceremony of Attrat 554MW Fuel Oil Shale Power Station was held by China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CEEC) in Beijing. Present at the ceremony were Xiang Yongzhong, CEEC vice president, Co., Ltd., Sandor Liive, president of Estonia Energy Co., Ltd., Joseph Tan, vice president of Malaysia YTL Power International Co., Ltd., Yahya Qaralleh, Jordan’s ambassador to China, and Shi Yonghong, vice president of China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Machinery & Electronic Products (CCCME).

Attrat 554MW Fuel Oil Shale Power Station, located in an oil shale mine, 110km from south of Amman, the capital of Jordan, was invested by Attrat Power Company, a joint venture established by Estonia, Malaysia and Jordan. The project, with an installed capacity of 2×277MW and a 42-month construction period, includes works of design, manufacture, supervision, test, equipment supply, construction, installation and alignment. The largest oil shale circulating fluidized bed boiler in the world will be installed and 8,000,000 tons of oil shale will be consumed in this project every year. The project, with designed capacity of 500MW, is expected to supply power to local people in 2017, which will reduce expenditure of 0.35 billion Jordanian dinars (0.495 billion us dollars) on energy annually, and create thousands of jobs for local people.
