On April 15th, 11:30am (local time) Ecuadorian Sopladora Hydropower Station, the first EPC project undertaken by CGGC in South America, had its power generation target accomplished: its first turbo-generator unit was connected onto the power grid. Wang Yulin, Chinese Ambassador to Ecuador, Esteban Albornoz, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy of Ecuador, were present in the ceremony and pressed down the start-up button together. Among the 400 attendants were Jiang Xiaobing, Vice President and Chief Engineer of CGGC, Liu Canxue, Assistant to President of CGGC and Chairman of CGGC Mechanical and Electrical Construction Co. Ltd, Cao Donglin, General Manager of CGGC No.2 Engineering Company, Wang Yimin, Vice President of CGGC International, and local officials, commons and journalists.

Ambassador Wang Yulin gave a critical speech after the successful connection onto the power grid. He was grateful for CGGC's unremitting endeavors to enhance Sino-Ecuador economic development, incorporate itself into the local society and boost friendship between Chinese and Ecuadorian people. He encouraged CGGC, a credible and responsible transnational enterprise in a large size, to make more contributions to the deeper friendship between China and Ecuador.

Paute-Sopladora Hydroelectric Project ("HPP" in short) , located at the east border of Azuay Province and Canar Province, is a vital component of cluster of HPP in the Paute River basin. The Project accommodates three Francis turbo-generator units with installed capacity of 487.8MW and water head of 375.6m. Upon completion, this station will supply power to the national power grid up to 13.9% of the domestic power demand, serving 1.3 million households. In consequence, it will save fuel consumption and energy import annually amounting to 200 million US dollars and, meanwhile, reduce CO2 emission by nearly 1.7 million tons.

Since the commencement in April 2011, numerous unfavorable obstacles such as different working philosophies, different technical specifications and complicated geological structures have been overcome by all of the staff and workers of the Project Management Team, who in return is highly appraised by all the parties for their steady target in pursuit of excellent projects.
