On October 9, 2018, Suki Kinari Hydropower Project in Pakistan (“SK Project”) ushered in another important node - the excavation of underground powerhouse was formally commenced, which marks that the Suki Kinari Hydropower Project, an overseas hydropower project invested and constructed by CGGC in the form of “greenfield” investment, makes a solid step towards successful completion.

Facing Perse unfavorable factors such as complicated geological conditions, all parties involved in SK Project planned proactively, made full use of each party’s resources to prepare underground powerhouse optimization and external relocation plans, gathered internal and external experts for technical research and demonstration, and finally optimized the design of powerhouse relocation. Through design optimization, the length of access tunnel, tailrace tunnel, cable troughs, and other tunnels and chambers around the powerhouse is shortened and the construction period of the main powerhouse is dramatically reduced, thus successfully achieving the construction goals.

Next step, all construction units of the SK Project will join hands with each other to tackle challenges and take measures to progress the construction of SK Project in a safe, high quality and efficient manner, so as to ensure scheduled power generation and make contributions to create excellent projects in Pakistan and promote the friendship between China and Pakistan.
