Lyu Zexiang Meets with Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan

On November 11, Lyu Zexiang, General Manager of CGGC International and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, met with Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan who pays a formal state visit to China in the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Both parties agreed to continue to deepen the cooperation and make joint efforts to promote the construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to a new stage.

Lyu Zexiang congratulated Imran Khan on his election as the new Prime Minister of the Pakistani Government. He noted that, as the general contractor of the Three Gorges Project, the world’s largest hydropower station, CGGC has vigorously implemented structural adjustment, transformation and upgrading in recent years, and has also extensively participated in construction projects in such fields as industrial parks, railways and highways while maintaining its leading role in the field of hydropower development construction. CGGC is hailed as one of the most competitive listed companies in the world. Setting foot and developing in Pakistan for years, CGGC has participated in many key projects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor by means of EPC general contracting, including Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Station, Dasu Hydropower Project and E-35 Highway, represented by Suki Kinari Hydropower Project in Pakistan, CGGC’s largest overseas “greenfield” project. Over the past decade, the total amount of CGGC’s projects under construction in Pakistan has exceeded USD 7.5 billion and the contract amount has exceeded USD 8.3 billion. While upgrading local energy infrastructure, CGGC has also provided nearly 10,000 jobs for local employees, trained a large number of local engineers and technicians, and made outstanding contributions to the socio-economic development of Pakistan. As the friendship between the peoples and governments of China and Pakistan deepens and the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is further progressed, CGGC is willing to give full play to the advantages of integration of investment, construction and operation, extensively participate in hydropower, thermal power, new energy, transportation, water affairs, industrial parks and other infrastructure construction and investment projects in Pakistan, thus making more contributions to promoting the further development of China-Pakistan relations under the new situation.

Imran Khan extended gratitude to CGGC for extensively participating in the socio-economic construction in Pakistan, and highly appreciated CGGC’s recruitment and proactive training of local workers over the years. He noted that CGGC is a trustworthy partner of Pakistan with good performance ability and great sense of social responsibility. He further noted that the new generation of Pakistan Government will proactively promote various infrastructure construction projects, and that CGGC is welcomed to take an active part in the construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, accelerate the construction and investment of projects in such fields as hydropower, thermal power, new energy and transportation, so as to make contributions to the development of China-Pakistan relations.
