CGGC Signs Contract for the Largest Solar Power Plant Project in Laos

On September 27, CGGC International signed the EPC Contract for Attapu 300MW Solar Power Plant Project with Wang Investment Sole Co., Ltd. in Vientiane, Capital of Laos. After completion, it will be the largest PV power plant in Laos, which will facilitate Laos’ national strategy of the Hydroelectric Battery of Southeast Asia. Chen Xiangdong, Deputy General Manager of CGGC International, attended the signing ceremony.

Located in Attapu Province in southern Laos and about 780km from Vientiane, Capital of Laos, the Attapu 300MW Solar Power Plant Project has the construction duration of 18 months and mainly involves the construction of 300MW PV power plant and auxiliary transmission and transformation lines. As its EPC contractor, CGGC is mainly responsible for project design, supply, civil construction, installation, commissioning, quality assurance and other tasks.

As a platform for the development of CGGC’s international businesses, CGGC International has proactively facilitated the overseas development of new energy businesses and took the lead to set up the International Investment Alliance for Renewable Energy to help leading enterprises in China’s new energy industry go global. So far, the Alliance has attracted 52 reserve projects with the total installed capacity of over 10GW and signed contracts for a batch of representative projects. In the first three quarters of 2019, CGGC International has successfully won the bid for multiple projects in such fields as PV, photo-thermal and wind power in Greece, Bahrain, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, Laos, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, etc., with the total installed capacity of 1800MW. The successful signing of the solar project in Laos is an important achievement of CGGC International in practicing the green development and facilitating the global new energy construction.

Chen Xiangdong Visits the Minister of Energy and Mines of Laos

After the signing ceremony, Chen Xiangdong paid a visit to H.E. Dr Khammany Inthirath, Minister of Energy and Mines of Laos. Chen Xiangdong briefed Minister Khammany on the contract ceremony and discussed him about the power development trend in Laos. Minister Khammany congratulated the successful signing of the Project and hoped that CGGC International could keep exploring and expanding Laos’ market and further facilitate the country’s economic development.

CGGC has undertaken over 10 key projects in Laos since it made its presence there in 1990s, including Houay Lamphan Gnai Hydropower Station, Northern and Southern Rural Electrification Project and Sesalalong Irrigation Project. It has won countless honors and awards like Special Contribution Award for Laos National Power Development and made remarkable contributions to Laos’ socio-economic development. Thanks to the Project, CGGC International will further expand the new energy markets in Laos and even the whole Southeast Asia, help Chinese new energy enterprises go global, and facilitate the global energy structure transformation.
