CGGC International Signs the Contract for 90 MW Solar-thermal PV Hybrid Power Plant Project with CPL in Bangkok, Thailand, Worth US Dollars 500 Million

On April 10, CGGC International and CPL signed the EPC Contract for 90 MW Solar-thermal PV Hybrid Power Plant Project located in Khon Kaen, Thailand, with the contract price of US Dollars 500 million, indicating the new breakthrough made by CGGC International in Thailand. It is also another achievement made by CGGC International in innovative development of overseas markets by proactively practicing the idea of “going global” for promotion of new energy business in accordance with the principle of “attaching equal importance to pandemic prevention & control and market development in the face of global outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Scene of Contract Signing

Located in Donmong Sub-district, Nong Ruea District, Khon Kaen Province in northeast Thailand, the Project involves the design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, test run and supporting power transmission and transformation lines of the power plant. It will effectively mitigate power shortage within the area and satisfy local people’s power demand after completion.

Project Location

Located in central Indo-China Peninsula, Thailand is one of the world’s emerging industrial countries and market economies. As a country in the tropical monsoon climate zone, Thailand features the annual solar radiation of about 1800 Kwh/m2, making it suitable for solar industry development. It is envisioned in the Power Development Plan of Thailand to reduce the share of fossil fuels in Thailand’s total power generation capacity from 72% in 2015 to 32% and to raise that of renewable energy from 21% to 55% by 2040. Solar power generation technologies will keep its leading position in Thailand’s power industry transformation resorting to its 22.8GW new capacity (equivalent to 36% of Thailand’s 62.9GW of capacity gap).

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, CGGC International has deeply analyzed the impact of the pandemic on its development of international markets, taken effective measures to provide guidance for overseas branches and firm their confidence in development, made innovation in working ideas, restlessly prevented and controlled the pandemic, and promoted the development of international markets in a scientific manner to achieve the production and operation goals of the year. The Thailand Branch has proactively practiced the overall deployment of CGGC, taken the initiative to bear duties, made innovation in working styles, fought against the pandemic as per the pandemic prevention &control requirements issued by the Thai government and the Commercial Counselor’s Office of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, and rapidly organized various tasks considering responsibilities of frontline posts despite of diverse difficulties, successfully accelerating the conclusion of contract.
