During the meeting, Lyu Zexiang welcomed the Ambassador to visit the Company and thanked the Nigerian Embassy for its continuous support and help. He said that as a core member company of CEEC, a super-large central state-owned enterprise in China, CGGC has its business scope covering many fields such as construction, transportation, new energy, water affairs, etc., and is able to provide one-stop solutions including planning, design, construction and operation of the entire industrial chain. The Company has actively promoted the two-wheel drive and coordinated development of project contracting and investment, and has completed investment decisions of nearly US$6 billion. Africa is a core regional market of CGGC, and Nigeria is one of the Company's key markets in Africa. In 2016, the Company established its first overseas regional headquarters- Northwest Africa Regional Headquarters- in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, and its business covers 28 country markets in Northwest Africa. Since entering Nigeria in 2006, the Company has successfully implemented more than ten key livelihood projects. Among them, the Mambilla Hydropower Project is the largest cooperation project between China and Nigeria, which has attracted great attention from the governments and people of the two countries. Since the spreading of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Company has joined hands with all parties in Nigeria to prevent the "pandemic". While ensuring the safety and health of the Chinese and foreign employees of the Project, it has also actively donated pandemic prevention materials to the local government. The prospects for cooperation between China and Nigeria are broad and CGGC is full of confidence in Nigeria’s economic development. CGGC will continue to increase the promotion of key projects, strengthen high-level linkages, actively innovate business models, and participate in Nigeria’s economic construction in various forms such as EPC or investment, further consolidating the foundation of economic and trade cooperation between China and Nigeria.

Mr. Ambassador reviewed the fond memories of visiting the Three Gorges Project with the President during the China-Africa Forum, and expressed his sincere gratitude to CGGC for its scientifically and orderly promoting the implementation of the Project during the pandemic, and for its donating money and materials to support Nigeria’s fight against the COVID-19 outbreak. He said that the Nigerian government welcomes CGGC to participate more extensively and deeply in Nigeria's economic construction and investment, and he will continue to give full support to the Company's key large-scale hydropower projects in Nigeria. The Nigerian Embassy in China has been in close communication and cooperation with the Company for a long time. As a bridge of friendship between China and Nigeria, the Embassy will provide active assistance for CGGC’s business development in Nigeria, build a platform for high-level visits between China and Nigeria, and promote mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Nigeria and the continuous and in-depth development of bilateral relations.

The Minister of Economic Affairs and Political Affairs of Nigeria in China, the Deputy General Manager of the Company Yuan Baoyi, and relevant persons in charge of the Northwest Africa Regional Headquarters and International Department I attended the meeting.
