He said that CGGC has overcome the test of the epidemic and successfully completed the handover of the Project with high quality, showing a strong sense of responsibility and professionalism in the construction, and brining benefits to Kuwait. The Chinese Embassy in Kuwait has been following and supporting the progress of the Al-Mutlaa Project. Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Li Minggang congratulated the handover of the main part of the Al-Mutlaa Project, recognized the achievements made by CGGC in Kuwait, and commended the project department for overcoming difficulties and guaranteeing the project implementation during the epidemic. He also said that the handing-over of the Project undertaken by a Chinese enterprise at the beginning of this year was also a gift presented to the 50th  anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Kuwait. The cooperation between China and Kuwait enjoys broad prospects, he hoped that CGGC will further deepen its involvement to help local people realize their aspiration and pursuit for a better and happy life, and to make unremitting efforts to promote the high-quality construction of the “Belt and Road” Initiative by China and Kuwait!

A high position shot of the Project

Against the backdrop of the continued spread of COVID-19 overseas, the Al-Mutlaa Department has withstood high pressure and strictly controlled the node to win this tough battle. Director of the Project Department He Bosen said, “Today, the Project has been handed over smoothly, and has given a satisfactory reply to the Kuwaiti government and people during the special period when the epidemic is spreading globally. I would like to thank all the Chinese and foreign employees of the Project Department for working hard overseas despite difficulties, and I hope that we can continue to make joint efforts to create a better future, and contribute to the high-quality development of the Company's international business”.

The Al-Mutlaa Project, which covers an area of about 30 square kilometers, is a key livelihood project combining China's “Belt and Road” Initiative and Kuwait's “Development Vision 2035”. It includes excavation and filling of about 70 million cubic meters of earth and rock in eight blocks of the New Town, 3,200 kilometers of underground pipe network, 4.6 million square meters of asphalt concrete pavement, 650,000 cubic meters of rainwater collection pool, and construction and decoration of more than 440 substations. It can solve the housing problem of 400,000 local people.

The first batch of project handover was completed in October last year, accounting for 70% of the project volume. The handover today is the second batch, mainly including 2 and 2/3 blocks, including the relevant plots for 6,342 residential units, which accounts for about 30% of the overall handover quantity of the Project. So far, the main works of the Project have been handed over, contributing the wisdom and strength of the Chinese construction enterprise to Kuwait's infrastructure construction and helping local residents build their cozy homes.

In the face of the epidemic, the builders of CEEC have made all-out efforts, built a modern "new city chessboard" in the desert, helped local people "live better" and improve Kuwait's urbanization, injecting new impetus into Kuwaiti society, economy and people's livelihood and contributing to the “Belt and Road” Initiative and the China-Kuwait Friendship.
