At 10: 00 a.m. on April 29, 2021 local time in Peru, the construction of the foundation platform of the Bridge COSTANERA 2 of the Cuzco Road Project undertaken by CGGC started, formally opening the curtain of the bridge construction, and setting off an upsurge of accelerating project construction in an all-round way.

Construction Site

The Cuzco Road Project consists of 4 bridges, including 3 river-crossing bridges and 1 overpass. The construction of the river-crossing bridge at pile 6 + 176 of the road has been started this time. The Bridge COSTANERA 2 is 30 meters in length and 23.24 meters in total width. The bridge is of prestressed box girder structure and the bridge foundation is in the form of group piles with bearing platform. The total construction period is estimated to be six (6) months.

The implementation of the Project has faced severe challenges since the Project was located in the downtown area of Cuzco, where there are a large number of pipelines and routes, for which the concerned parties failed to provide detailed drawings. Besides, the spread of COVID-19 pandemic has imposed a great adverse impact on the project implementation. Since the commencement of the Project on March 18th 2021, the project team in Peru has been focusing on both production and epidemic prevention, strengthening coordination and communication with all parties, and quickly organizing personnel, materials, machinery and other resources to enter the site, so as to fully accelerate project implementation. At present, the original pavement removal and earth excavation of the Project are being carried out in an orderly manner.
