Recently, CGGC and Indonesia's PT. LAMAN Mining formally signed the EPC contract for the Indonesian Alumina Refinery Project, successfully breaking through the large-scale metallurgical industry market in Indonesia. The successful signing of the Project is another important result of the Group's active participation in the “Belt and Road” Initiative, the practice of coordinated "Going Global" efforts of central enterprises, the acceleration of transformation and upgrading, and the "Going Global" drive of non-electricity business.

The Project is about 180 kilometers away from Kundian City, the capital of West Kalimantan Province, Indonesia; and the main work of the Project is to build an alumina refinery with a production capacity of 2 million tons/year, with the contract construction period of 33 months.

Indonesia is dominated by laterite bauxite, with the confirmed bauxite reserve of 1 billion tons, ranking sixth in the world, accounting for about 3.57% of the world's total reserves, and mainly distributed in western Kalimantan and Bangka islands. The bauxite metallogenic belt in West Kalimantan is one of the most important producing areas of bauxite in Southeast Asia with large scale and good ore quality, and the content of Al2O3 is 45% -55%. In recent years, the Indonesian government has successively issued policies to encourage enterprises investing in and developing mineral resources to set up smelting and processing plants in Indonesia by changing the way of purely exporting resources. Therefore, more mineral processing links will be retained in Indonesia to increase the added value of ore products and provide more jobs.

The completion of the Project will greatly improve local infrastructure and industrialization, significantly increase tax revenue and boost employment, the radiation effect of which will drive the development of Indonesia bauxite mining, raw material supply, logistics, transportation, supporting services and other related industries.

Indonesia is an important pivot of the “Belt and Road” Initiative and a key country for CGGC to explore in depth overseas. CGGC will seize the opportunity, efficiently promote project construction, operation and management, and make positive contributions to the enhancement of China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership.
